Lianne Lam, Lam Kin-ming and Matthew Lam

More than 800 people gathered at the Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate the 80th birthday of Lam Kin-ming, the eldest son of the late Lim Por-yen. The evening paid tribute to Lam Kin-ming’s many achievements, with friends sharing stories and insights from different stages of his life. Family members and friends flocked to his table to try to secure selfies with the man of the hour. At one point the throng was so pressing that his security team had to step in so he could enjoy his dinner free of roving camera lenses. Highlights of the evening included various musical acts. A lively performance by Japanese girl band Kamen Joshi, clad in colourful costumes and bejewelled accessories, was a standout. Another treat was the gift bags guests received containing a box of custom blended pu’er tea and a bottle of red wine from Spain’s Bodega Otazu. Lam Kin-ming personally oversaw the blending of the wine when he visited the winery earlier this year. Guests included Matthew Lam, Lianne Lam, Peter Lam, Emily Lam-Ho, Jimmy Tang amd Emily Tang
