This September, FTSE-listed online financial trading firm CMC Markets Plc (CMC Markets) announced the launch of its online trading platform CMC Invest, aimed at investors in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region. The platform is currently live in Australia and the UK as well.

“Our vision was to provide a platform that arms investors with comprehensive tools and insights to navigate the financial landscape, so they can achieve their financial goals,” said Christopher Forbes, who heads CMC Invest in Singapore.

Investing in what matters to you

CMC Invest provides comprehensive tools and insights for investors to navigate the financial landscape, while ensuring they achieve their financial goals without losing earned profits to high platform costs.

The first major selling point of CMC Invest is its promise of being transparent. Understanding that novice and expert investors are deterred and wary of hidden costs or short-term benefits that negatively compound performance over time, CMC’s platform has no hidden fees or charges such as deposit and withdrawal fees, platform fees, inactivity fees, or settlement fees. CMC will only earn from commissions as a percentage of the value of the trades made. On top of that, an 8 percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) will also be applied to commission fees that are outside of the free trade allowance.

Customers can also trade globally listed shares, Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and money markets, with wealth management, fractional options and futures to come.

This means access to more than 35,000 shares across 15 international markets such as USA, Canada, UK, Germany and Hong Kong. For local ETFs or shares, CMC Invest features more than 550 homegrown companies listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. It also has access to 2,866 securities, REITs and ETFs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange—and investors will not have to pay any brokerage, trading or platform fees and transaction taxes.

“In this saturated market, setting ourselves apart was not simply about pricing, but more about confronting the hidden expenses that have crept into the industry—from platform fees and settlement fees to inactivity costs—that erode investors’ capital and confidence,” said Forbes.

CMC Invest has three account tiers of different pricing plans. The most basic Gold plan starts at zero cost, followed by the Platinum plan which has a monthly subscription fee of $48 and the Diamond plan with a monthly subscription fee of $128.

The plans all provide access to shares in the 15 markets, ETFs, Singapore-based support and free live US market data. The Platinum and Diamond plans will have additional features such as free live Singapore market data, access to analysts, brokerage rebates, sales trader coverage and priority servicing.

Each plan also includes monthly trades that are free from commissions and platform fees. The Gold, Diamond and Platinum plans will get 2, 5 and 10 free trades for Singapore stocks and 5, 10 and 20 free trades for US, UK, Hong Kong and Canada stocks respectively.
