Through making the news with accomplishments like securing a lucrative merger and funding, it is evident that our Generation T listers of 2017 are a restless and driven bunch of achievers. Read on and be inspired by 10 soon-to-be alumnis of our inaugural list, who proved that success is achievable with momentum in the right direction.

1. Neelofa

In the span of one year, Neelofa has landed ambassadorship roles with companies like Lancôme and Swarovski and was inducted as a director for airline company Air Asia with much fanfare.

In between these commitments, she still finds time to develop her hijab brand Naelofar locally and internationally. When she can, she works on fashion collaboration with fellow Generation T listers Fiziwoo and FashionValet’s Vivy Yusof.

2. Joel Neoh

The serial entrepreneur with a penchant for philosophy has been keeping himself busy expanding Fave into the South East Asia region. In addition to his much-talked about buyover of Groupon Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, his mobile payment division of the company, FavePay, is gaining traction with merchants all over SEA region.

When he isn’t actively working on scaling his company, he is always ready to give back to the entrepreneur community by frequently attending conferences and talks to ensure Fave remains ahead of the consumer tech game.

3. Amira Geneid

The cover star of our March 2016 issue started her Singapore-based luxury halal cosmetic brand Zahara as a one-woman show, with her husband Cameron Priest as an advisor.

At present, she has expanded her product range from wudhu-friendly nail polishes to lip creams, eyeliners and more. Each product is carefully formulated to be cruelty-free, halal and high performance. She made news recently when she was inducted into the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia Class of 2018.

4. Devan Linus Rajadurai

The co-founder of Malayan Traders Capital (MTC) made news when he started Malaysia’s first boutique hedge fund company in 2012 with two friends. Devan’s secret to success is thanks to a combination of his own finance smarts and a lifetime of training from his family, who are active in the finance industry.  

Throughout the past year, Devan and his business partner Donovan Ng is investing on growing the company, from building a swanky new office for the company in Bangsar and recruiting more staff. They are also now looking into opening a new office for MTC abroad.

5. Jenn Low

With her infectious enthusiasm and passion for fashion and design, #girlboss Jenn Low proved that it is possible to run a global brand from Malaysia. Her accessories label Wanderlust + Co is stocked around the world and has been spotted on celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Jessica Alba and Vanessa Hudgens.

In the year, the bubbly entrepreneur is chalking up new territories for her company, by opening a brick-and-mortar shop in Manila, The Philippines. With more investors coming onboard, Jenn is steering an aggressive expansion in South East Asia over the next few months.

6. Joe Flizzow

There’s no stopping this entrepreneurial hip hop mogul, as evident from his achievements last year. Not only did he launch his latest album Drop to critical acclaim, he has since produced and hosted his own online talent search show 16 Baris, which has just ended its first season.

When he is not busy mentoring, performing or making music, Joe is busy with the operations of his chain of barbershops and doing ambassador work for luxury watchmaker, Hublot.

7. Raja Jesrina Raja Arshad

Last year, Raja Jesrina’s PurelyB rolled out a carefully-laid out expansion plan, from securing a second round of funding through an equity crowdfunding campaign to launch new content platform and services. With RM2million raised from the exercise, she has led her team in opening new offices in the region, first in Hong Kong and next in Indonesia, with multi-lingual content platforms as the end goal.

A poster girl for female entrepreneurship, Jesrina is proud to share that her company’s management team consists of mostly women—a statistic she is adamant to keep.

8. Weiron Tan

Despite his young age, Weiron is a seasoned car racer. He has participated in Formula Renault, the German Formula 3 and raced with Andretti Autosports in the Pro Mazda. He has also taken part in the Asian Le Mans Championship and in China’s GT racing series.

Weiron made news recently when he was announced as a driver for the Jackie Chan DC Racing team, alongside Jazeman Jaafar, Nabil Jeffri and Afiq Ikhwan Yazid. Expect great things from Weiron as he makes his debut with his teammates at the next World Endurance Championship.

9. Isadora Chai

The fiery chef owns and runs three restaurants in the competitive Klang Valley dining landscape: Bistro a Table, Anson and Antara. Her accomplishments has garnered her accolades, the most recent being our own T.Dining Awards for Best Innovative Chef.

Unapologetically opinionated, Isadora has starred in TV shows like Food Wars Asia. Last year, she was chosen alongside fellow Generation T lister Joe Flizzow, to front the Time Kulture watch exhibition—proving that she is in-demand outside of the kitchen as well.

10. Cheryl Yeoh Sew Hoy

The former CEO of MaGIC was thrust into the spotlight last year when she revealed her personal experience with sexual harassment from a prominent venture capitalist.

In the wake of the publicity that followed her as a face for women rights advocacy, Cheryl launched the #MovingForward initiative, an open-source initiative in which top-tier US venture capitalist firms in Silicon Valley and the East Coast establish and list their new external anti-harassment and discrimination policies towards non-employees: often times start-up founders who pitch them.
