The ApeFest 2023 Hong Kong community event aims to offer the best of mental fitness training and blockchain technology through breath work sessions and music events with DJs

ApeFest 2023, the annual festival and get-together for enthusiasts of blockchain and Web3 technology by Yuga Labs and Bored Ape Yacht Club, is taking place in Hong Kong from November 3 to 5. A day before that kicks off, on November 2, the mental wellness training app Breathonics is organising an official ApeFest community event, BRX Live.

Named after the BRX wellness app, BRX Live aims to offer attendees an in-person experience of the app and an immersive intersection of music, science and technology.

CEO of Breathonics Bradley Dowding-Young, explains, “We’re doing a whole day wellness experience to show two things. One is that the blockchain doesn’t have to be all about crypto mining and financial incentivisation. It can be about using blockchain technology for the better. Two is to introduce people to the power of breathwork.”

The Gen.T honouree adds that the mental fitness company’s goal is to “bring these two elements together seamlessly and bring the transparency of blockchain data to health and fitness”.

The event, taking place at the Mihn nightclub in Sheung Wan, will feature two breathwork sessions, including power-down and power-up exercises and an Ask Me Anything (AMA) conversation about mental health. Guests can enjoy non-alcoholic refreshments in an immersive audio theatre backed by live DJs, including sets by Hong Kong's The Auracle. Dowding-Young will be guiding attendees through the experience, which will conclude with a house and techno party.

Describing the vibe of the event, Dowding-Young says, “It’s going to be almost like a laydown rave. You’re going to be lying down on these beautiful beanbags. It’s a fully immersive experience with a Funktion-One sound system and lighting. We’ve curated a whole multisensory, one-hour experience for people to just take a moment and take a step back from the whole craziness of the event. This is something no one’s ever experienced before.”

Looking ahead, Breathonics plans to continue running further instances of BRX Live on a regular basis, in what it sees as bringing the digital BRX app to life in a real-world setting in a city ready to take advantage of the potential of blockchain technology.

Dowding-Young explains, “Hong Kong has made a very smart move of attracting talent, companies and people who want to change the future. That brings back the old spirit of Hong Kong when people came here because it was an opportunity to create change. I think we’re seeing that again.”

Attendees can sign up to attend BRX Live here.
