Eric Chen

As an innovator with a worthy cause, Eric’s mission is to make us all safer—and it revolves around some tiny fish. The biotech entrepreneur and founder of Vitargent was so appalled by the mainland melamine milk scandal and the general food-safety standards of Hong Kong that he decided to do something about it—and that something involved patenting some genetically modified fish that light up fluorescently in the presence of toxins, in an unexpected but ingenious solution to the problem. Clearly others agree. With the backing of venture capital, Eric’s mission is only just beginning. Woe betide anyone who gets in his way.

Secret to Success: It’s all in the fish.
