Gina Wong

Gina Wong

The world could use a few (well, a lot) more female filmmakers, especially ones as talented as Gina. The visual artist made her directorial debut in 2008 while living in Shanghai, and has since produced and directed eight more film projects, working with crews from Japan, France, China and Bosnia. She’s taken part in global festivals including London’s Raindance Film Festival, the Miami Film Festival and SXSW in the US.

Gina’s skills don’t stop behind the camera, however; she also runs Experimenta, a performance art space launched in 2009, and is the founder of the Pineapple Underground Film Festival, which screens independent films from around the world. She’s a disruptive force in her field and a fervent supporter of avant-garde, cross-genre art media.
