One of Asia’s preeminent ignition programmes for retail startups has opened applications for its 2018 incarnation.
The Cage, which claims the title of the “only retail ignition programme for tech startups in Asia” is powered by luxury lifestyle juggernaut The Lane Crawford Joyce Group.
The incubator is looking for early-stage startups that focus on B2B tech designed to enhance the customer experience. Applicants require a consumer-tested prototype to be considered.
Much like the wares within Lane Crawford stores, the programme is highly curated—only two startups will make the cut. The pair will enter a 12-week, full-time programme at The Cage—a stylish co-working space in the group’s One Island South headquarters—where they receive structured learning, mentorship, marketing testing opportunities and the potential to secure an eventual commercial agreement.
Startups shortlisted from the online application process will be invited to interview. Of these applicants, six will be invited to an exhibition and pitch event to be grilled by a panel of expert judges. Finally, two winners will be selected to take up residence in The Cage.
Past winners have hailed from across Asia and beyond, including New York’s self-checkout app QueueHop, India’s “visual Quora for fashion” SeenIt, Hong Kong’s AI chatbot maker Whatsquare and Mainland China's fashion marketplace app Whoolala.
Do you have a “frontier technology” with the potential to innovate, or even redefine, customer touchpoints? We can’t think of a better way to develop that idea and discover new potentials.
Applications close on March 18; the programme begins in May this year.
