Trunks came in many forms for many different functions at the Savoir Faire showcase, but none sparked as much excitement as Louis Vuitton’s Vanity Mahjong trunk. The compact case opens up to reveal an elegant interior in jewel-toned green, which made a nice contrast to the corian and wood tiles marked with Louis Vuitton motifs.

Also known as the Beauty Trunk, this piece embodies the many qualities that define Louis Vuitton’s creations: it’s functional, finely crafted, and travel-friendly. The rose pink hue of the trunk’s interior is not only harmonious to the monogram canvas façade, but also lends lightness to the many perspex and wooden drawers meant to house an extensive makeup collection.

Resembling the comforting image of a nest, the Campana brothers’ chair evokes the cosiness of the Brazilian designers’ other contributions to the Objets Nomades collection, such as the hanging Cocoon chair or the Bomboca Sofa. The Bulbo, however, is distinguished by its layers of leather-lined petals that invite one to curl up right in the heart of the almost-blooming flower.

True to the playful nature that lies at the heart of their London design studio Raw Edges, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay dreamed up the Cosmic Table after experimenting with interlocking paper forms. Its distinctive curved base is expertly crafted from carbon fibre, and then covered in strips of Louis Vuitton’s exquisite leather to create a sense of lightness that balances the disc of thick, bevelled glass that sits atop of it.

Those with horticultural pursuits would certainly appreciate this terrarium-inspired trunk, conceived by Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière. Designed for both storage and display, the Malle Jardin is the first trunk from the maison to eschew a wooden structure for a glass one. The rest of it is elegantly finished in palladium, including the top lattice that allows for plants to grow beyond the cuboid confines.

Beijing-based designer Frank Chou looked to natural forms when creating the Signature Armchair, specifically the smooth curves of Arizona’s Antelope Canyon and the terraced rice fields in Yuanyang, China. It’s only fitting that the striking chair is offered in an outdoor version—a first for Louis Vuitton’s Objet Nomades collection. To withstand its exposure to the elements, the chair is specially upholstered from Louis Vuitton’s waterproof canvas as well as Brio, a textured, woven rope yarn fabric by the Italian textiles company Paola Lenti.
