Not even a looming super typhoon could keep guests away from our annual Hong Kong Tatler Ball

1. The Tatler Starship

"Science. Space. The Future." was this year's theme for the Hong Kong Tatler Ball and we transformed the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong into an intergalactic venue complete with space grass, custom chandeliers and ever-changing cosmic video installations in the ballroom. 

2. Red carpet arrivals and Facebook Live

Over 375 members of Hong Kong society, many from our Tatler 500 list, showed up in their gala best, including Ming Ho-Tang, Adrienne Hui, Peter Woo, Feiping Chang and more. Take a look at our red carpet arrivals gallery and relive our Facebook Live feed with our fashion director Justine Lee.

3. The Macallan bar and trolley

As guests arrived at the cocktail reception, they caught up and mingled around the illuminated The Macallan bar. The Macallan trolley came back towards the end of the evening during the after-party to keep the good vibes going.

4. Interactive video booth

Open during the cocktail reception and after-party, our interactive video booth turned guests into James Bond-like characters by superimposing custom-made moving graphics onto their short video clips.

5. Chopard models

Dressed in futuristic bob wigs and armour-like mini-dresses, several models showed off the latest high jewellery collection from Chopard during the cocktail reception. 

6. Impossible Foods

For the first time ever, Impossible Foods' plant-based meat was served as a main course at a black-tie event. Over 60 percent of the Hong Kong Tatler Ball guests opted to go plant-based this year, proving that the future of food could really be vegan.

7. The Hong Kong Tatler Awards Ceremony

This year, we gave out awards in four categories: Global Unity, Most Promising Young Lady, Most Stylish Woman and the prestigious Diamond Award. 

The awardees were Yuri & Julia Milner, Joanna Lui Hickox, Ming Ho-Tang and Peter Woo, respectively, who accepted their awards with grace and humility.

8. A special donation

Every year, Hong Kong Tatler donates HK$100k to a charity nominated by the diamond award recipient. This year, Peter Woo pledged to match our donation dollar for dollar, making a total of HK$200k. After receiving his award, he nominated Mother’s Choice.

9. The after-party: Tabitha Nauser and DJ Miss Yellow

Kicking off the afterparty, Singapore-based Generation T lister Tabitha Nauser took the stage for a three-song performance, followed by an electrifying set from Hong Kong's very own DJ Miss Yellow.

10. Exclusive preview of our October issue

On their way out, each guest was given a goodie bag filled with gifts from our sponsors, including a sneak peek at our October cover story featuring Yuri and Julia Milner (awardees of the Global Unity Award), a Bluetooth speaker from The Macallan and assorted FANCL products.
