Working from home might sound like the best indulgence, but whether you’re a freelancer or a member of a startup, the distractions of the home can become difficult to ignore. Ever since The Hive opened a few years ago, co-working spaces have slowly been popping up all over town.

While these establishments definitely don’t lack in physical amenities, the essence of a co-working space is a community where like-minded people can bond, build their network and seek inspiration. We’ve shortlisted five of our favourite shared working spaces in Hong Kong.

We Work

Following the opening of the first We Work location in 2010, the shared office has expanded to over 30 cities with more than 100 locations in just six years. It finally arrived in Hong Kong last year; two locations are already open in Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. The Desk

Located in the trendy neighbourhood of Sai Ying Pun, The Desk provides extensive and flexible membership options, from a one-hour plan and day passes to a monthly membership. Pick an office with an ensuite private balcony—being productive also requires frequent pleasant breaks, after all.

The Loft

Located in San Po Kong, The Loft spans over 8,000sqft, providing members with access to a photography studio, a barbeque area and an outdoor terrace, as well as the usual conference and meeting rooms. Free entrepreneurship seminars are also hosted from time to time by well-known companies like Google and Aqua Media.

The Farm

Founded by Fashion Farm Foundation, a non-profit organization of enthusiastic entrepreneurs from the fashion and creative cultural industries in Hong Kong, The Farm is the first and only co-working space in Hong Kong focuses on fashion and design.

The space spans over 10,000sqft and members enjoy a range of events where they can swap insights and share their experiences, including catwalk shows, professional seminars and even a weekend market.

The Crafties

Located in Sheung Wan, The Crafties is a co-working space specialised for crafters in Hong Kong, offering various member-taught art workshops ranging from beginner to advanced levels.

Apart from sharing skills, The Crafties also provides crafting supplies, equipment, a library and a gallery where members can market and sell their creations.
