The sumptuous Presidential Suite at the St Regis Macao exemplifies refined living, complete with beautifully crafted Asian-inspired furnishings, a wealth of modern comforts and captivating views of Cotai. The expansive suite, which measures 5,130sqft, features three bedrooms, including a beautifully appointed master bedroom, four bathrooms, separate living and dining areas that comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests, and a private entertainment room featuring a home cinema.

But what really sets the St Regis—the fourth and final tower of the Sands Cotai Central resort complex in Macau—apart from the competition is the signature Butler Service for every guest room and suite, a first for any hotel in Macau. This 24-hour anticipatory service customises each guest’s stay to his or her specific needs, tastes and preferences.

Of course, guests at the hotel can expect the usual luxurious accoutrements: the sophisticated The Manor restaurant, an intimate St Regis Bar and a giant outdoor pool. In addition, a private exercise room ensures guests can keep to their usual fitness regime while a private massage room offers them a pampering Iridium Spa experience from the comforts of their lavish accommodation.

Arguably the most extravagant and expensive hotel ever built in Macau, or anywhere, The 13, expected to open later this year, offers rooms built at a cost of more than US$7 million each.

The decor at the Villa du Comte, the hotel’s entry-level accommodation, contrasts spectacular floor-to-ceiling baroque details and period art works with surprising modern elements. Guests can access their 2,000 sqft, split-level, one-bedroom villa via lifts that open directly into a private lobby.

The villa bedroom features a king-size, velvet-canopied bed with an elaborately carved and gilded Baroque headboard. Guests bathe under art-covered ceilings lit by standing candelabra. A rain shower and electric bidet toilet are hidden behind a floor-to-ceiling stained-glass facade. The ornate marble Roman Bath, which can accommodate six to eight people, is presented under a vaulted baroque ceiling supported by
neo-classical columns and lit by a spectacular crystal chandelier. When not in use, the Roman Bath is covered by a retractable marble floor.

Many hotels in the city have special services and features for families to help the holiday run smoothly, including connecting rooms, cots and babysitting services. One of Macau’s hotels goes even further, treating children as well as their parents, if not better.

The Sheraton Macao offers DreamWorks-themed two-bedroom Family Suites with a master bedroom for parents and a separate, specially designed children’s room featuring characters from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar. The children’s room features bright, colourful, pint-sized furniture, bunk beds, a craft table, a 42-inch flat-screen TV with Nintendo Wii, board games, and DreamWorks-character bathrobes and amenities.

Both children and adults can refresh after a long day in their own marble bathrooms with walk-in glass showers and separate bathtubs.

Indulgent parents can also become honorary ogres and join Shrek and friends for a fairytale “Shrekfast” featuring Shrek’s Donkey Pop Cakes with Swamp Fillings and Dragon Eggs done sunny side up. The breakfast begins with a DreamWorks-character performance on stage, after which the characters make their way through the seating area to interact with guests.

If Donald Trump were to visit Macau, this is where he would likely stay. Occupying two floors, this expansive 9,500sqft Presidential Suite, offering panoramic vistas of the Cotai Strip, is designed to make guests feel just as important as the United States’ commander-in-chief. Featuring a gourmet kitchen, a butler room, two dining areas, a steam and sauna room, a jacuzzi and an in-suite relaxation pool, it’s the perfect place to unwind (with music—a piano is included).

Service, as expected, is of the highest order and caters to every need, from enjoying the perfect pillow combination at night to savouring a private seafood barbecue by the pool.

The presidential entourage can relax and rejuvenate nearby at one—or several—of 10 Pool Villas, each with between one and three bedrooms, and including a private swimming pool and jet pool, a living and dining room, and a bathroom with a steam room and a large bath overlooking lush greenery. The larger units include a spa-treatment room, a sauna room, outdoor pavilions and gardens, an expansive indoor living area, a gourmet kitchen and a private pool and jacuzzi.

More than 100 years ago, César Ritz—the “king of hoteliers and hotelier to kings”—set the global standard for luxury accommodation. Such timeless style continues today with the opening of Ritz-Carlton’s first ever all-suite hotel in Asia.

Encompassing a classic European aesthetic with modern innovation, the hotel boasts 254 guest suites, including 27 luxurious Carlton Suites that feature 100 square metres of sumptuous living space divided into five distinct areas: living room, powder room, bedroom, dressing closet and bathroom. All have 3.2-metre cove ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows framing magnificent views of Macau.

Bathrooms are lined entirely in hand-selected Italian marble, and accented by champagne-gold bath accessories and bevel-cut mirrors. Etched and mirrored French doors face floating circular marble tubs and Italian mosaic niches separate the vanities.

Guests also enjoy in-suite check-in, access to an exclusive lounge on the 53rd floor and five complimentary culinary presentations throughout each day. Guests can also relax at the ESPA, work out at the fitness centre and enjoy the outdoor swimming pool.
