5 Design Spots To Visit In Singapore

Don't miss these artsy locations in the Lion City
Singapore is known as a foodie destination, but it's increasingly a magnet for architecture and interior design enthusiasts. Hip new locations are popping up left and right, so check out our guide on some of the most stylish spots to visit in the Lion City.
Stay: The Warehouse Hotel
Opened in January 2017, The Warehouse Hotel is Singapore's first truly boutique, design-focussed property. Once a warehouse during the spice trade, and more recently, the home of Singapore's most popular nightclub in the '80s, the two-storey industrial building has been immaculately renovated by Singaporean design firm Asylum to create an airy and industrial, yet welcoming space.
The 37 elegant rooms are designed in a relaxing, muted palette of greys and greens and all included elements of the warehouse's original design—whether double-height ceilings or exposed brick walls. The rooms all have vast shower areas, lots of natural light and several come with beautiful river views. The hotel's lobby bar serves great cocktails made with house-infused spirits and essences while the hotel restaurant Po offers an interesting menu of modernised Singaporean classics in a super-chic setting. Every inch of the hotel's design has been carefully considered. From your coffee cup to the bedside light and even the rooftop pool, its an aesthetic triumph.
Odette is one of nine F&B establishments within the new National Gallery Singapore, which is housed inside the former Supreme Court.
The two Michelin-starred restaurant is acclaimed chef Julien Royer's latest offering following his departure from JAAN, and is as much a delight to the eyes as it is for the palette. Designed by Universal Design Studio, the interior's soft colour palette and understated elegance allow the food to do the talking. The waiting list is up to two weeks long, so best get your name down well in advance.
Drink: Operation Dagger
Voted Best New Bar at the Singapore Bar Awards in 2015, Operation Dagger is hidden along a back alley at the junction of Club Street and Ann Siang Hill. Accessed via a nondescript glass door in an even more nondescript building, guests descend a dingy staircase before arriving in a basement dramatically finished with a lighting rig made up of thousands of overhanging bulbs.
The mixologists in charge Luke Whearty and Aki Nishikura, are known for their exceptionally innovative creations. Among the signature drinks is The Egg, made of salted egg yolk liquer, vanilla and hay.

Shop: Edit Lifestyle Boutique
This lifestyle boutique is housed in a heritage complex on pretty Tanglin Road. Interior designer owner Florence Lim fills the whitewashed walls with expertly merchandised colour that hangs from every rack and surface.
The multi-brand selection of independent makers and designers rangers from jewellery and sandals, greetings cards, fragrances, swimwear, home wear and ready-to-wear. The star of the sartorial line-up is Alba, Lim’s own line of resortwear.

See: teamLab Exhibition at the Art Science Museum
The ArtScience Museum marked its fifth anniversary in March 2016 with the opening of a new permanent exhibition featuring 14 works by the 450-strong Japanese art collective, teamLab, which is known for its evocative digital artworks. The landmark installation takes visitors on an immersive journey through nature and urban areas into outer space, and is honestly one of the most spellbinding things we have ever seen.
