Dubai is a city of superlatives—it’s home to the world’s tallest hotels, and now it’s about to break its own record again

After the 1,168-foot (356 metres) Gevora Hotel set the Guinness World Record in 2018 for the world’s tallest hotel, Dubai is welcoming another skyscraper that is set to overtake the title upon completion.

Located at the heart of Dubai's Marina district, in close proximity to popular attractions such as the Marina Walk and the Marina Mall, the Ciel Tower will reach a height of 1,181 feet (360.4 metres) and house 1,042 rooms and suites split across 82 floors.

Ahead of its opening, here are five things you should know about Dubai's Ciel Tower.

1. It’s designed by an award-winning architect

The same architect who designed Dubai’s iconic towers, the Atlantis and the Palm hotel, the world-renowned London-based architect NORR is the creative mind behind the Ciel Tower.

Inspired by vertical living, the tower is shaped like a glass sculpture, with an interior that pays tribute to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi—one that is rooted in the appreciation of the aesthetic that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.

2. It will offer 360-degree views of Dubai

Complete with a glass observation deck, the Ciel Tower will boast panoramic vistas across Dubai Marina, the Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf.

That’s not all—the rooftop will feature an infinity pool, which is poised to be one of the world’s tallest when it opens.
