The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui is just days away from its official opening and we’re very, very excited. With a major focus on wellness and immersing its guests in local Thai culture, this marks the The Ritz-Carlton’s first presence on the Eastern coast of Thailand. Below are five facts that offer a first look at this stunning new resort:

Built on a former coconut plantation, The Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui pays homage to its location’s past with the extensive use of coconut and other natural, local materials throughout the hotel, including beautiful ceramics by local artists. Much of the hotel is built to work with the land rather than against it, creating an earthy feel that will no doubt leave you feeling closer to nature.

On select days, the hotel brings the outdoor food market experience to the hotel with Baan Talat, where guests can sample from Thai street food stalls.

Additional dining options at the hotel include Shook!, a contemporary dining space that serves innovative Asian and Western cuisine complemented by a selection of fine wines; SeaSalt, which offers international classics and Thai favorites in a relaxed atmosphere; and Tides, the perfect spot for sun-lovers to unwind with a cocktail and freshly-made specialities from the cevicheria. Finally, One Rai offers cocktails and Asian-inspired nibbles.
