Bulgari has announced its plan to open a new luxury hotel in the heart of Rome as soon as 2022. Bvlgari Hotel Roma will pay homage to “the home of Bulgari and its greatest source of inspiration.”

The prestigious hotel will be located in the Campo Marzio neighbourhood, around the corner from the Via del Corso, the Bvlgari flagship on Via Condotti, and the infamous Spanish steps. According to a press release, the property will occupy a grand, modernist building from the 1930s that faces the Ara Pacis and the Mausoleum of Augustus.

“We are particularly proud to have secured such an extraordinary location for the new Bulgari Hotel in Rome,” Bvlgari chief executive, Jean-Christophe Babin said in a statement.

The latest Bulgari hotel, along with all other Bulgari Hotels properties, will be restored and designed by Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. Hotel Roma will include over 100 rooms, most of which will be suites, as well as the in-house Il Ristorante, which will be curated by Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito.

In terms of aesthetics, design materials will include ochre Travertine marble and burnt red brick to “emphasise the link to Emperor Augustus’ ancient Rome” and will also feature a rotating collection of modern and antique Roman works of art.

“This hotel, to be opened in 2022, represents a remarkable achievement for Bulgari that will finally have its own ‘temple’ right in the city where the company was founded and that still represents nowadays the beating heart of the brand,” Babin added. “It will be by far Roma’s most luxurious hospitality experience ever.”

Bvlgari Hotels already has six luxury hotel properties in their portfolio, Milan, London, Bali, Beijing, Dubai, and Shanghai. The brand will also be opening locations in Paris, Moscow, and Tokyo within the Bulgari three years.
