December is here and the Christmas clock is ticking, with preparations for the big day well underway––from shopping for gifts, buying your tree and decorations, to booking Christmas staycations and festive feasts.

If you've already visited all of Hong Kong's Christmas markets, fully embrace the season by visiting some of Hong Kong's Christmas displays. We're listing some of the best ones to take your family, friends and loved ones at the most wonderful time of the year.

1. Santa Paws and Polar Paws, Landmark

Landmark marks the festive season with Santa Paws, bringing together new Paws family member, Polar Paws and their friends for you to see. This is especially exciting for kids as Santa Paws himself will be making an appearance at Landmark throughout the holidays.

The display will be filled with a giant snowman, Christmas tree and the Landmark Christmas Market installation that features booths and other Christmas offerings and activities.

2. Santa’s Cabin, Pacific Place

Travel plans this Christmas might be on hold, but at Santa's Cabin in Pacific Place, you can have another kind of Christmas adventure. Santa and his elves will be docking at Pacific Place, so begin your journey at the North Pole in Garden Court, to see the most adorable arctic animals on display.

Then, hop on the 15-meter-long Santa ship, complete with virtual AR experience at Santa's Cabin where you can take photos and participate with a virtual meet-and-greet with Santa.

3. Christmas Every Day, Harbour City

Harbour City's displays have always been a big part of Hong Kong's Christmas celebrations. This year, the theme of their display is "Christmas Every Day" to bring joy and spread love during this season. There are several displays for you to visit including the ones at the staircase entrance, the Terminal Deck and also inside the mall itself.

At the Terminal Deck, a romantic Christmas lightning garden will truly bring in the festive vibes. The one at the staircase entrance is more family-friendly with a European-style wooden house and three-meter-high Christmas bear and the ones indoor are for those looking for a more interactive experience.

When: Open daily from November 21, 2020–January 3, 2021 at 10 am–10 pm

4. Globoscope, K11 Musea

The Globoscope display is part of K11 Musea's "A Very Musea Christmas Village" installation, blending the best of nostalgic winter memories with creative twists. Globoscope is an immersive light showcase by Collectif Coin––with the installation travelling across Europe before landing in Hong Kong.

You can also embrace the holiday spirit at the Santa Muse Parade which is seen throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within K11 Musea.

When: Open daily from November 27, 2020–January 3, 202 at 5:30 pm–10 pm. Reservation is on a first-come-first-served basis, each session lasts for 20 minutes. You can book a session online.

5. Butterflies of Hope, Lee Tung Avenue

The lights at Lee Tung Avenue are one of the most-awaited Christmas displays every year. For 2020, the light display has been created by award-winning Hong Kong visual effects director, Victor Wong, bringing an interactive installation of AI butterflies to the avenue. A seven-metre stained glass butterfly and over 350 colourful LED butterflies will be covering the Lee Tung Avenue atrium as well as the entire boulevard.

The display changes during the day at night accompanied by festive music for a Christmas music and light symphony. To really get into the Christmas spirit, a 12-metre Christmas tree with touchless interactive features will also on display.

When: Open daily from December 3, 2020–January 10, 2021

6. Misson: Hohoho, Cityplaza

At Cityplaza, you can enjoy an interactive experience with a secret group of 99 Christmas Agents who are turning the shopping centre into a hideout complete with festive gifts and laughter for all. This Christmas display is more than just decorations and photo-op––join in the fun in nine interactive zones that put your vision, speed and reflexes to the test.

At the end of the activities, you'll receive a limited-edition souvenir. The commemorative coin set makes up of four coins, each engraved with an image of one of the Christmas agents.

7. Snow Swirling Christmas Land, Maritime Square

Enjoy a Christmas at Maritime Square's Snowy Swirling Christmas Land display that features a massive circus of selfie spots against a snowy backdrop. There's also a six-metre-tall revolving toy castle filled with colourful lighting effects to keep the kids entertained. Inside the castle is a selfie wall swarmed with more than a hundred fluffy teddy bears.

Also part of the display is Chiming Forest, located in the outdoor open space, which was created with 110 interactive light and sound installations. The wind chimes and other wind-sensitive instruments sway gently to produce sounds and lights.

8. MOSTown x Sanrio Characters Christmas Galleria

For a combination of art and Christmas, look no further than this Christmas galleria in MOSTown. Teaming up with the iconic Sanrio characters who is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, Taiwanese creative team, Seven Apex, the shopping mall selected artworks from some of the most celebrated artists in history and reimagined them through the Sanrio characters.

The art gallery houses five exhibition zones, divided into different renowned artists including Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. While not as Christmas-inducing like other displays, it's a great alternative if you want a break from all the extravagant Christmas lights and decorations.

With the most wonderful time of the year here, ifc mall transforms its Oval Atrium into a dazzling display of enormous Christmas ornaments. Experience a spectacular sensorial light show and take in the joyful Christmas atmosphere.

Featuring 3,600 LED mini light bulbs that form a six-metre-high illuminating sphere and an interactive display of nine massive ornaments, you can enjoy a mesmerising Christmas light show from day to night. This five-minute show called Spread the Glow is scheduled every half hour and is set to a playlist of Christmas songs.

Santa Claws is coming to town! The popular Japanese capsule toy, Shakurel Dinosaurs is teaming up with Christmas to bring a Santa Claws Christmas party to the Mira Place. The Jurassic-twisted Christmas gala features the iconic dinosaurs in festive costumes.

You can enjoy the Dino lighting show called Claws Crazy Time, numerous AR interactive experiences and Instagrammable photo spots. And complete your journey at the Mira Place's first-ever virtual exhibition where you can make use of the countless Christmas promotions across shops and restaurants.

We have some visitors this Christmas. Aliens will be paying a visit to Olympian City to join in the Alien Party Christmas Party. What's even more exciting is the brains behind the displays are 15 children aged 5–9 as part of the "Olympian kids Imagineer" team.

The display features a series of interactive installations and games to stimulate your senses. Exhibiting a giant spacecraft as well as five experience zones, you can explore the world of aliens during this Christmas party.

Santa Claus will be visiting you this Christmas at Popcorn Mall. The entire Christmas town features a Christmas Motion Theatre where you can various installations including balloons and lighthouses rotating. But the icing on the top is Santa Claus himself will be flying in the air.

A Time Tunnel equipped with an infinity mirror as well as LED lights creates a special effect where the sky rotates around the world. Finally, a six-metre-tall Christmas tree will be looming over the entire Christmas town.

13. BT21 Meets Citywalk Love in Winter Town, Citywalk

The well-loved team of BT21 made by K-pop superstars, BTS, is joining our holiday festivities at Citywalk. The Christmas display will feature a winter town where fans can celebrate the holidays with the adorable BT21 members comprising of Koya, RJ, Shooky, Mang, Chimmy, Tata and Cooky. They will be clad in new seasonable outfits and hop onboard the giant guardian robot, Van, which will ultimately land in Citywalk Piazza.

Besides the piazza, the atrium at Citywalk 1 will also transform into a festive BT21 town where a Christmas tree loaded with lovely BT21 ornaments. Inside the pop-up store, you can get your hands on brand new goodies. Now, you can celebrate the holidays with a little funk and soul at Citywalk.

14. A Green Christmas: Fabrics and Wreath, TKO Plaza

A very green Christmas arrives at TKO Plaza with their A Green Christmas: Fabrics and Wreath display, adding a sustainable twist to the festive vibe. A feast for the eyes is the visually stunning gigantic Christmas wreath art installation made from colourful reused fabrics that serve as an aerial display looking like a chandelier suspended in mid-air of the piazza.

The giant wreath is made of hundreds of reused or wasted fabric patches combined together, sewn piece by piece. Besides the installation, other eco-friendly materials are on display including leisure benches and handcraft DIY sets made up of eco-friendly origami Christmas ornaments and Christmas cards.

This winter, Times Square join forces with urban oasis specialist, Botanic Union to bring an ornately green Christmas experience to us. Discover a green Christmas utopia at the heart of Causeway Bay where the atrium of the mall's second floor, as well as the piazza, transforms into absolute Christmas greenery displaying a 15-metre-tall Christmas chandelier, a 27-metre-long festive garden area and a 2.5-metre-tall box planted Christmas tree.

We haven't been able to kiss or hug our loved ones as much this year but Citygate's Feel the Christmas Kisses is going to remind us that feeling.
