"Crash Landing On You" Is Getting A Musical Adaptation
Crash Landing On You fans, rejoice. The mega-hit Korean drama is coming back––not for a second two but as a musical. Production companies, T2N Media and Pop Music have joined forces to sign global publication rights with Studio Dragon, the media powerhouse that worked on the drama, for the planned musical adaptation. The live performances are slated to start in Seoul around mid-2022 while casting for the lead roles are reportedly about to begin.
Crash Landing On You follows the story of a wealthy South Korean woman, Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) who accidentally crash-landed in North Korea after her paragliding trip went haywire. There, she finds Ri Jung-hyuk (Hyun Bin), an elite North Korean military officer who helps her hide and find her way back to South Korea. A blossoming romance tests the boundaries of their relationship and how far the two will go to be together.
The drama set the record for the highest viewership rating in the history of the cable channel, tvN as well as one of the viewed shows on Netflix in 2020. The chemistry of its lead stars, Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin was so great on-screen it eventually lead to a real-life romance, much of the joy of their fans.

The drama was such a huge hit that together with K-pop group BTS and Oscar-winning movie Parasite, it was one of the top drivers of the Korean Wave or Hallyu in 2020, according to a report by the Culture Ministry and the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange.
"We concluded the deal for publication rights with Studio Dragon, and we plan to start choosing the main staff and begin casting. We will do our best to create a good project We’ve already received inquiries from many actors and foreign production companies," says Kim Jin-seok, CEO of the production company, Pop Music.
