Mulan is back to bring honour to us all.

During the women’s World Cup final game on Sunday, Disney dropped the first trailer for the Mulan live action remake starring Chinese-American actress Liu Yifei in the title role.

The video, which is based on the 1998 animated movie, begins with Mulan being paired off to a potential husband by a matchmaker. She then runs away from her family and masquerades as a man to join the famed Imperial army, and the trailer ends with Mulan shooting arrows and swinging her sword to thwart her enemies.

The film features an all-star Chinese cast, including Tatler 500 Lister Donnie Yen, who plays Mulan’s mentor, Commander Tung, while Jet Li is cast as China’s emperor. Meanwhile, Gong Li will play the film’s villain, a wicked witch.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remake does away with characters from the original movie, including Mulan’s love interest Li Shang and her sidekick, Mushu. But the new film introduces new characters like Chen Honghui, played by New Zealand actor Yoson An, Mulan’s ally and comrade who eventually becomes her love interest. The original film was a smash hit, raking in over $HK2.3 billion worldwide.

To coincide with the trailer, Disney also released the movie’s first official poster. Mulan will be in theaters on March 27, 2020.
