From Cantonese delicacies by a two Michelin star chef to an open bar and premium amenities, the new Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong is the ultimate place to wind down before taking off

This month, American Express unveiled their latest American Express Centurion lounge—the first in Asia—at Hong Kong International Airport. Joining cities such as San Francisco and New York, the 8,000 square-foot lounge is open exclusively to American Express Platinum Card members and Centurion members.

“For more than a century, American Express has been there when customers need us most. Hong Kong is one of the world’s busiest airports, serving all travellers of the globe,” said Y C Koh, President, American Express Asia. “The Centurion Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport will give Card Members a chance to escape the hustle and bustle, whether they’re heading on a family holiday or off to their next business opportunity.”

Located on the upper level near gate 60, members are greeted by the unmistakable blue doors and lush green wall that have become signature features throughout Centurion lounges around the world. The design of the new lounge makes the most of HKIA’s natural light and high ceilings to create an open, airy and relaxing space anchored by a sleekly designed bar.

Members have access to a full complimentary bar featuring a wine list curated by renowned New York sommelier Anthony Giglio, as well as cocktails crafted by acclaimed mixologist Jim Meehan.

Along with drinks, members can also indulge in a premium international buffet that changes regularly throughout the day. Breakfast includes entrees such as french toast with berry compote or dim sum baskets. The lunch and dinner selections include options such as gnocchi pomodoro, pan-fried sole fillet with caper cream sauce and a selection of fresh, healthy salads.

Centurion members also have exclusive access to a private dining area that serves an a la carte menu of Cantonese delicacies by Lau Yiu Fai, the Executive Chef of two Michelin star restaurant Yan Toh Heen at InterContinental Hong Kong.

“We are excited to introduce our first Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong, which continues to be a top destination for our Card Members,” said Janey Whiteside, executive vice president and general manager of Global Charge Products, Benefits & Services, American Express. “With our Hong Kong lounge, we sought to bring to life and celebrate the truly unique flavours, aesthetics and design that makes Hong Kong an epicentre of global contemporary culture - from the look and feel of the space, to the food and beverages we offer.”

Access to The Centurion Lounge and its facilities is complimentary for Platinum Card and Centurion Members. Platinum Card Members may enter with up to two travel companions at no additional charge, and they may purchase a one-day pass for additional guests for US$50.
