Music fans, take note. On Friday, February 15, Blue Lotus Gallery is opening an exhibition of black-and-white images from the archives of photographer Gijsbert ’Gilbert’ Hanekroot, who spent the 1970s photographing music legends including John Lennon, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan.
"We were catapulted from one world to another," writes Gilbert in his book, From Abba To Zappa. "We saw The Eagles in London, Paul McCartney in the south of France, Bob Dylan in New York and the Stones in Hamburg." But who was his favourite? "My ultimate favourite artist of all time was David Bowie," says Hanekroot. "He was something special, a true artist."
Before the exhibition opens, get a first look at some Hanekroot's photographs in the slideshow above.
