Hong Kong Ballet Celebrates 40th Anniversary Season With New Film
Hong Kong is known for its abundance of neon signs, and what better way to showcase the Hong Kong Ballet than with beautiful neon-clad ballerinas dancing all over the city?
From the Star Ferry to the basketball court and ports, Hong Kong Ballet's new film and campaign 'Ballet in the City' celebrates four decades of ballet in a fun and colourful way.
“I am thrilled to launch our 40th anniversary season with an electrifying brand video and a series of unforgettable photos that showcase our Company’s dynamic dance artists," said Mira Yeh, chairman of board of governors of Hong Kong Ballet.
Highlights from the 2019/20 season of the Hong Kong Ballet include artistic director Septime Webre's Asian premiere of Peter Pan, a new adaptation of Romeo + Juliet and the debut of George Balanchine's Jewels.
"Last season, we had record-breaking subscription sales and half of our productions sold out! Incredibly, this season is even stronger, and the shows will continue to astonish our audiences. I am especially excited about the family-friendly Peter Pan, Hong Kong Cool, which fuses ballet and fashion, and the glamorous Jewels by the legendary George Balanchine," added Mira.
"Not only did we achieve phenomenal ticket sales last season, but our popular community education and outreach programmes such as the Ballet in the City project has expanded its audience reach to over 33,000," said Daisy Ho, vice-chairman of board of governors of Hong Kong Ballet.
"All of us at the Company believe in connecting with our community, and we hope our city will continue to be inspired by the power of the art."
