1. Beare's Premiere Music Festival 2020

What: Formerly the Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival, this event features more than 30 musicians from home and abroad. Catch classic works by Beethoven, Olli Mustonen, Brandenburg and Mendelssohn, as well as more unexpected offerings, such as a martial-arts film screening accompanied by live music.

2. Company Wayne McGregor—Autobiography

Where: The Box, Freespace, West Kowloon Cultural District

What: Award-winning British choreographer and director Wayne McGregor is well-known for his dance pieces inspired by science and technology. Autobiography sees 10 dancers performing 23 chapters—one for each chromosome pair in human cells—that McGregor devised after sequencing his own genome.

3. Of Monsters And Men

Where: MacPherson Stadium

What: The Icelandic indie pop-folk outfit have topped charts since their debut in 2011. Catch them in Hong Kong as part of their global Fever Dream tour, named for their third album, which came out last July.

4. Kidsfest

Where: The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts

5. HKPO Jaap’s Beethoven 1—Lang Lang

Where: The Cultural Centre

What: The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth with a showcase of the music with which the composer launched his career, played by star pianist Lang Lang.

6. Hong Kong 100 Ultra Trail Race

Where: MacLehose Trail

What: Launched in 2011, this endurance race is part of the Ultra Trail World Tour circuit and is one of the biggest running events in the world. The 100km course takes runners on a gruelling trek along the MacLehose Trail.

7. The National Folkloric Dance Troupe of Egypt
