If your son has a voice like Gene Kelly or moves like Fred Astaire, his chance to shine has arrived. The critically acclaimed Broadway show Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is coming to the Lyric Theatre at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts this September—and they’re looking for four Hong Kong children to join the cast.

The lighthearted and colourful story centres around a family drama. Set in the Australian outback, drag queen Tick is invited by his estranged wife, Marion, to meet his son Benji for the first time. It’s an all-singing, all-dancing production about diversity and inclusivity, with an incredible set list of pop classics.

Producers are looking for four boys to alternate the role of Benji during the show’s Hong Kong performances. Those wanting to apply should be between 7-11 years old, fluent in English, around 140cm tall, and possess an unbroken voice and strong acting and singing abilities.

If your child is chosen, he’ll join the ranks of musical theatre legends including Jason Donovan and Nick Adams, who are both previous cast members. So what are you waiting for? Better get started on that dance routine, stat.

Auditions for singing, dancing and acting will be held on Sunday, June 25  at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Candidates must register first: the deadline for registration is June 21. For more details, visit hkyaf.com.
