Over 30 modern and contemporary artworks will be showcased including the Hong Kong debut of the Nike "Moon Shoe" as well as works from Yoshimoto Nara and Takashi Murakami

Cultural-retail giant, K11 Musea and auction house, Sotheby's join forces for the first time to present Sotheby's spring auctions preview in Hong Kong. The collaboration is a unique experience celebrating art and luxury where over 30 modern and contemporary artworks by western and Asian artists will be on display.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with K11 Musea to feature an exciting selection of modern and contemporary art as well as luxury collectables. With Asian collectors’ interest in art going hand-in-hand with their love for luxury, K11 Musea is a natural partner for this initiative—together we look forward to engaging audiences across communities and showcasing what culture and art can offer in tandem," says Nathan Drahi, Sotheby's commercial officer in Asia.

Art lovers, tastemakers and shoppers alike will have the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive preview from March 19–23. Works of art include those by modern artists such as Terry Frost, Zao Wuo-Ki, Lalan and Hsaio Chin.

Their works will juxtapose the cutting-edge pieces from contemporary and pop artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami and Matthew Wong. Meanwhile, in the world of luxury, a series of limited edition F.P. Journe timepieces will be on display too.

But the highlight is the debut Hong Kong presentation of the Nike "Moon Shoe", which many consider to be the holy grail of sneakers and is one of the most significant pieces in Nike's history. The hand-made running shoe was designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman and only one of the small group of pairs known to exist.

"I am delighted to be partnering with Sotheby’s on this exciting collaboration to present a world-class auction preview at K11 Musea, our cultural-retail flagship destination. Together we are able to foster a broader discussion on the interconnectedness of art, culture and innovation in our community, serving in parallel to our mission of creating shared value and empowering creativity and social innovation for the next generation," says Adrian Cheng, founder of K11.

The K11 Musea x Sotheby's 2021 Spring Auctions will be on view from March 19–23 from 11 am–7 pm at the K11 Art & Cultural Centre, 6/F, K11 Musea. For more details, please visit sothebys.com/hk
