Embark on a whimsical journey of the Chinese literati tradition with these scholarly treasures on show at this two-part exhibition

Through the display of scholarly objects in the two-level Liang Yi Museum, the exhibition sheds light upon the culture and society from which these precious objects were derived.

The video above is a guided tour of the exhibition led by Lynn Fung, Managing Director of Liang Yi Museum.

Aptly named as 100 Scholarly Objects, the exhibition on the lower floor of the museum features a range of antique Chinese wood artifacts and highlights of the literati tradition from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Found historically in Chinese residences and art studios, they range from scepters, brush pots to ink stones.

Brace yourself for some highlighted items including an exquisitely crafted birdcage and an imperial box for scrolls made of Huanghuali.

The top floor space is dedicated to a collection of European vanity items from the late 19th to 21st centuries. Themed as A History of Evening Bags, this exhibition presents pieces from a chronological order through the Victorian era to the advent of World War Two.

Get carried away by the extravagant range of treasures ranged from glittering diamonds, gold, emeralds as well as luxuries from the houses of Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels.
