With the opening of its 14 restaurants and bars, Marriott Dubai is now in full operation

Already home to the tallest building and largest shopping mall, it is only natural that Dubai, the city of superlatives, also houses the world’s tallest hotel. At just 26 metres shy of the Empire State Building in New York, JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is set to open its dining rooms in the city where engineers are continually testing gravity with leviathan man-made constructions.

Beginning next month, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, which opened to the public in November 2012, will be opening the property’s nine restaurants and five bars, one of which occupies the top floor.

While Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong at the International Commerce Centre may be taller in relation to sea level, The Marriott Dubai, as a hotel alone, stands at 355 metres (1,166 feet) and consists of twin towers each with 77 floors. The first tower opened last November.

Restaurants include Asian fusion, Italian, American, German, and continental and steakhouse themes.

Meanwhile, the dining scene at the Marriott Dubai begs comparison with another major hotel landmark in the city, the Burj Al Arab where guests are offered a dining experience dubbed “Culinary Flight,” a gastronomic itinerary that capitalises on the view 200 metres above sea level and moves between the hotel’s multiple dining rooms, including the Al Muntaha.

The dinner program is 1,000 AED (US$275).
