At the end of the six-day gastronomic cruise, guests will have experienced a combined total of 12 Michelin stars.

A new Belmond river cruise path catering to food-focused travellers is set to launch later this year. Departing from Saint-Jean-de-Losne and sailing onward toward Lyon, the Belmond Napoleon Epicurean Burgundy journey includes an itinerary centred around Michelin-starred restaurants in France.

The cruise will “treat your palate to some of the most celebrated cuisine in France as you cruise through glorious Burgundy, alighting for fascinating tours and private tastings,” according to the Belmond website.

The first gourmet highlight will be a two-Michelin-starred lunch La Côte Saint-Jacques, situated just outside of Auxerre; which will include colourful, playful dishes including lobster and fresh palm nut salad, and Egg Parfait with white Alba truffles and puy green lentils. Back on board, guests will be welcomed by a champagne reception and dinner on board.

Other gastronomic highlights will include lunch at the three-Michelin-starred Lameloise in Burgundy, dinner at the famous Paul Bocuse Restaurant in Lyon, as well as private wine tastings, walking tours through vineyards and farmer’s markets, and fresh, locally sourced meals available onboard while cruising to each destinations.

Between meals, guests will enjoy on-board entertainment by local musicians, a visit to a chateau in Burgundy, a private tour of Beaune’s Hotel-Dieu, as well as a tour of Joseph Drouhin's cellar, where the King of France and the Duke of Burgundy used to store some of their wines, and a variety of other distinctly French sightseeing opportunities to choose from.

The cruise will set sail on 9 August, 2020 with prices starting at around US$8,000 per person, with all meals on and off ship included.
