The famed director of The Godfather brings a touch of cinematic magic to the newly renovated Hôtel Lutetia in Paris

Francis Ford Coppola—the renowned director behind iconic films such as The Godfather, Dracula and Apocalypse Now—brought his vision off screen and into the luxurious five-star Hôtel Lutetia on Paris’ Left Bank, where he was commissioned to decorate one of the hotel's suites. Coppola, along with his daughter and fellow filmmaker, Sofia Coppola, are both longtime regulars at Hôtel Lutetia.

The project is part of the designated Grand hotel’s multi-year renovation, which includes the unveiling of its collection of seven Signature Suites.

Each suite is envisioned by celebrated architect Jean-Michele Wilmotte—the man behind such projects as the LVMH headquarters and the impossibly glamorous Mandarin Oriental, Paris—but the décor in each suite pays homage to a person or theme that exemplifies the City of Lights, such as haute couture and Josephine Baker.

But the most recent and final suite to be unveiled is the St. Germain Penthouse.  Decorated by Coppola, the suite features art and movie memorabilia hand-picked from the director’s personal collection including scripts, film stills, sculptures, a vintage movie camera and original annotated pages from Coppola’s own copy of The Godfather novel by Mario Puzo.

The suite comprises a living room with bespoke furniture, a dining area and a chic bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom adorned in Carrara marble. A winding staircase leads to a sprawling private rooftop terrace with 360-degree views—allowing for a truly cinematic and uniquely Parisian experience.
