Africa To China: Inside Pieter Hugo's First Exhibition In Hong Kong
Hugo rose to fame with his portraits, landscapes and still lifes that shine a light on overlooked people and places around Africa, whether that be the "hyena men" of Nigeria or children growing up in the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda. When Hugo visited Mainland China, he once again avoided the obvious and instead called upon normal Beijingers he met during his trip—such as hotel staff and translators—to star in his shots. Here's a preview of works in the exhibition.
Pieter Hugo: Africa To China is open until May 29 at Pékin Fine Arts, 16/F Union Industrial Building, 48 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen
