According to reports, two new corgis have moved in with Queen Elizabeth during lockdown, keeping her company while Prince Philip is in hospital recovering from heart surgery
Finally some good news from behind palace walls! According to a report from the royal correspondent in The Sun today, Queen Elizabeth has been gifted two new corgi puppies, who have joined Candy, the Queen's last remaining dorgi (dachshund-corgi mix) at Buckingham Palace during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in the United Kingdom during the past year.
"They have been there a couple of weeks but are said to be adorable and made the castle their home," the source said. "Both are said to be bringing in a lot of noise and energy into the castle while Philip is in hospital."
Queen Elizabeth's love for dogs, and corgis and dorgis in particular, has been well-documented over the course of her reign. According to royal historians, all of the 30+ dogs that have been with the Queen have been descendants of Susan, pictured above, a corgi who was gifted to the Queen on her 18th birthday in 1944. These two new puppies are not related to Susan, who passed in early 1959.
