CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Torsten Müller-Ötvös has confirmed that the new Rolls-Royce Ghost will feature a more minimalist design when it launches later this year

In an open later posted on LinkedIn, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Torsten Müller-Ötvös announced yesterday that the brand is in its final stages of developing an all-new Rolls Royce Ghost. Confirming that the new model will debut in autumn of this year, the announcement certainly gives car enthusiasts something to look forward to before the end of 2020.

An icon of the motor car company, the Rolls-Royce Ghost has been the brand’s most successful model in its 116-year long history, since it was introduced in 2009. In 2014, the design was updated, the Ghost Series II.

Speaking of the upcoming Ghost Series III, Müller-Ötvös described the launch as “unquestionably a historic moment”. He goes on to say that the new design was in the final stages of production when the Covid-19 pandemic hit earlier this year, but that the team “carefully and responsibly continued work on finalising this remarkable motor car. The experience reminded us that Rolls-Royce, with the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy at its prow, has endured with resilience and continues to serve as a symbol of ambition and endeavour.”

In development for the last decade, the Ghost Series III sets out to take on the demands and desires of the Rolls-Royce clientele, promising to be even more minimalism in design, with Müller-Ötvös stating that they have found their market has a “tendency towards luxury objects that celebrate reduction and restraint – that don’t shout, but rather, whisper.”

Concluding his statement on the forthcoming model, Müller-Ötvös write “It distils the pillars of our brand into a beautiful, minimalist, yet highly complex product that is perfectly in harmony with our Ghost clients’ needs and, I believe, perfectly in tune with the times in which we are all living”. More information on the new Ghost will be released in the next few months, which will “culminate in a fully digital debut”.
