Our November issue is out now and available for free download throughout the month
On the cover of Tatler Hong Kong’s latest edition is the acclaimed Hong Kong film director Ann Hui, who was recently honoured with the Golden Lion award for lifetime achievement at the Venice Film Festival.
She is the first Chinese female film director to receive this honour, who is famous for her realistic depictions of ordinary and often overlooked characters, including repressed housewives and domestic workers, told with a sensitivity that reflects her enduring affection for Hong Kong. In the interview, Hui talks about her career and discusses her filmmaking inspiration.
This issue also contains our own love letter to Hong Kong, created by peeking into the little black books of more than a dozen well-connected members of the Tatler community, who shared their tips on everything from college tutors to dog groomers to, naturally, the best dish of char siu in town.
Also worth checking out is our special feature entitled “The Year that Changed Beauty”, which explores the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the beauty industry.
