Waldorf Astoria New York To Auction Off Rare Pieces From Its Royal Suite
Waldorf Astoria and Kaminski Auctions have this week announced plans to host one of the largest and most anticipated auctions of the year. Fine Furnishings of the Historic Waldorf Astoria New York will include both online bidding and in person previews starting as early as October 3, 2020.
The expansive 15,000-item auction will benefit St. Bartholomew’s Conservancy, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the restoration and preservations of the exteriors and gardens of St. Bartholomew’s Church and Community House, with items ranging from 19th-century French furniture to chandeliers and fine art.
“Many of the pieces for auction have been a witness to history, and we are excited to see them find new life in the homes of avid collectors,” Andrew Miller, CEO of Dajia US, the owner and developer of Waldorf Astoria New York said in a statement, adding that, “from one New York City landmark to another, we are extremely happy that St. Bartholomew’s Conservancy will receive the proceeds in support of their valuable work.”
The Waldorf Astoria, which is world-renowned as a place of timeless glamour, has played home to a long list of Hollywood elite, international royalty, and world leaders. Due to its international prestige, the hotel and auction house anticipate drawing bidders from all corners of the world who wish to own a piece of five-star history.
"We can’t wait to bring this immense, once-in-a-lifetime auction to life,” said Frank Kaminski, CEO and Owner of Kaminski Auctions. “Given the variety of items up for auction and rich history of the property, we expect to attract bidders from across the globe. There are exquisite furnishings from the hotel’s notable restaurants and lounges. Needless to say, there’s something for everyone.”
