The WKCDA’s second year of programmes celebrates visual arts, music and dance

This year, the WKCDA celebrates its second year of pre-opening cultural activities that will run from Autumn 2013 to Spring 2014. Highlights of the WKCDA’s signature performing arts events include Freespace Fest, West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre, and Building M+: The Museum and Architecture Collection exhibition.

Freespace Fest hopes to host a variety of concerts, outdoor performances and participatory activities in the headland area of the West Kowloon Cultural District site in mid-December, while the West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre will continue to host some old favourites with new twists from the world of theatre.

M+ will also play host to a series of exhibitions as well as a variety of talks and events across the city. The first exhibition, Building M+: The Museum and Architecture Collection, will showcase at ArtisTree in TaiKoo Place from January 9 to February 9, 2014. A debut online exhibition, Mobile M+: The Neon Project, will also launch in late February 2014, investigating neon signs and their role in shaping Hong Kong’s cultural identity. The online effort will also be followed by Lee Kit: Venice Biennale Hong Kong Response Exhibition to be held at the Cattle Depot Artist Village in March 2014.

Apart from programmes organised by WKCDA, the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade will see a series of outdoor music festivals and community events, including Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival, Lion Rock Music Festival, JazzMe HK Festival, Blohk Party and the Green and Organic Health Run.
