Overwater bungalows may be commonplace in the Maldives, but in Fiji, you can only find them at two resorts. One of them is Fiji Marriott Momi Bay, a family-friendly resort located on the main island of Viti Levu about an hour's drive from Nadi airport. Besides the hugely popular, adults-only overwater bungalows, Fiji Marriott Momi Bay's unique design offers water views for every guest, no matter what type of room they're in. Take a virtual tour of the resort with our gallery:

Momi Bay

Fiji Marriott Momi Bay is built around a man-made lagoon that connects directly to the Pacific Ocean.

Guests can jump right in and take part in a variety of watersports including stand-up paddleboard, kayaking and jet-ski trips.

The resort is also close to Cloudbreak, one of world's top ten waves and home of the annual World Surfing League's 'Fiji Pro' competition.

Checking in

The hotel lobby of Fiji Marriott Momi Bay welcomes guests with cushy lounge seating, private reception desks and a lofty arched roof inspired by local boats that is seen throughout the resort.

Overwater bungalows

Out of the resort's 250 rooms, only 22 are overwater (all of which are adults-only). Ideal for honeymooners and often fully booked, each overwater bure (as they're called in Fiji) is a minimum of 65 square metres and offer direct access to the lagoon.

Royal Oceanfront Bures

The next best room type is the Royal Oceanfront Bure, of which there are only four in the resort. At 75 square metres, they come with a king-sized bed, separate lounge area, private ocean-facing terrace and an attached bathroom.

Spacious bathrooms

The bathroom of the Royal Oceanfront Bure is housed in a separate room with high ceilings, offering plenty of space for guests to relax and unwind.

Water views for all

Bures are spaced far enough apart to ensure guest privacy, and all 250 rooms offer views of the water (either the lagoon or ocean). Guests also have direct access to the beaches on both sides.

Fish Bar

Fish Bar is popular for romantic dinners and sunset drinks with a view—the menu is packed with plenty of fresh seafood options.

Tip: The Fijian kokoda (a kind of ceviche) and the grilled Pacific Island bay bugs are not to be missed.

Sunset at the infinity pool

The most Instagrammed spot in the resort is the adults-only infinity pool next to Fish Bar. Featuring a thatched-roof hot tub right next to the pool, be sure to get their early to watch the sun go down in style.
