Does your little one have an inner yogi? These kid-friendly yoga studios in Hong Kong have fun-focused classes so your bubs can breathe, stretch and meet new friends

As part of Tatler Wellness Week, we invited the youngest members of the Tatler community to join us for an afternoon dedicated to kids’ wellness.

In a fun and lively yoga class led by Hema Mirpuri, founder of The Yoga Room, mums and bubs breathed and stretched in the sunshine at The Upper House Lawn including Rosemary Vandenbroucke with her son Hendrix, Denise Ho with her son Donovan, and Ankie Beilke with her son Sebastian to name a few.

Mirpuri used toys, like a rainbow-coloured breathing ball, and visuals to create an interactive experience, which had everyone smiling all throughout the class.

Just as it is for adults, the benefits of yoga for children are plenty; aside from keeping them healthy and active, yoga can help increase focus, promote mindfulness, build self-esteem and develop their creative expression.

Here are some Hong Kong studios that offer kids’ yoga classes.

The Yoga Room

The Yoga Room founder Hema Mirpuri was one of the first to bring yoga to Hong Kong, and certainly one of the first to introduce a kids’ yoga programme.

Utilising the internationally renowned programme, YogaKids by Marsha Wenig, Yoga Kids at the Yoga Room takes a holistic approach with activities that engage kids’ brain, body and spirits through the use of visuals, music and math.

The Studio

Akiko Sakai is the founder of The Studio, a cosy and colourful space on Stanley Main Street where she teaches yoga and painting to kids.

Armed with a registered children’s yoga teaching certificate and an infectious uplifting energy, there’s no doubt your little ones will leave feeling happy and inspired.

Little Yogis

Little Yogis takes a holistic approach to kids’ wellness. Located in Wong Chuk Hang, Little Yogis is run by couple Mathew and Carina who combine yoga with healthy eating in their unique programme.

Carina teaches a lively and interactive sensory-based yoga class, which is followed by a cooking class led by Mathew—a former “picky eater” in his childhood—where kids will learn to cook a fresh, healthy meal inspired by dishes from around the world.

Anahata Yoga

Anahata Yoga is known for its traditional approach to yoga, but that doesn’t mean the kids’ classes can't be fun.

Led by Anahata’s teachers, all of whom come from great yoga lineage, kids’ classes are held on weekend mornings and use playful methods to encourage little ones to use their natural flexibility through a series of asanas.
