Amidst the rumours surrounding their contract renewal with YG Entertainment, world-renowned K-pop sensation Blackpink made a stunning appearance as one of the esteemed guests at Buckingham Palace

In a dazzling convergence of global pop royalty and regal elegance, K-pop sensation Blackpink made an extraordinary appearance at the historic Buckingham Palace. Breaking through cultural boundaries, the four members of Blackpink, with their signature charisma and chart-topping hits, brought a touch of contemporary glamour to the iconic residence of the British monarchy.

The exquisite state banquet, held in honour of the arrival of South Korean president Yoon Suk-yeol and first lady Kim Keon-hee’s state visit to the United Kingdom, was graced by the presence of various British and Korean dignitaries and members of the royal family including Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The host of the night, King Charles III, also praised Blackpink in his speech, saying, “I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose, better known collectively as Blackpink, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience as Ambassadors for the U.K.’s Presidency of COP 26, and later as advocates for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is extremely inspiring to see Korea’s younger generation’s dedication to these causes.”

“I can only admire how they can prioritise these vital issues, as well as being global superstars. If England has The Beatles, Queen, Harry Potter, and David Beckham’s right foot, then Korea has BTS, Blackpink, Squid Game, and Son Heung Min’s right foot,” he added.

The Blackpink members were also awarded the honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) during a private investiture by King Charles III to honour the group’s support for campaigns highlighting climate change.

To wrap up the group's visit to the United Kingdom, Blackpink's hit song Ddu-Du Ddu-Du was played by the military band of the 1st Battalion of Welsh Guards during the changing of the guards. The video posted by the royal family's official Instagram account was captioned, “On Wednesdays, we play Blackpink.”
