See what 2024 has in store for you with our yearly horoscope by our astrologer Casey Chan

As we step into a new year, we naturally look forward to new beginnings. Whether it’s declaring our new year’s resolution or crafting a personal vision board, hopeful anticipation is in the air. This year, consider joining forces with the cosmos and let the stars guide you into a more aligned planning for the year ahead.

While 2024 is bursting with energy of fresh start and new beginning, certain months will bring more intensity, while others feel mellow. The year kicks off with a boost in mental clarity as Mercury stations direct on January 2. Although the Mercury retrograde effects will linger until January 21, we can expect clearer communications and mental processes. One of the most important cosmic events in 2024 is Pluto’s movement between Capricorn and Aquarius. Pluto is considered the Lord of the Underworld, wherever she travels to, we can expect intense changes. Being considered a malefic planet, Pluto is the fire of transformation that can sometimes seem destructive. On January 20, having Pluto join the Sun just moments before she shifts sign into humanitarian Aquarius further amplifies her influence. The powerful planet then retrogrades back into Capricorn in September before officially entering Aquarius on November 20, where she will stay until 2044. Over the next two decades, powerful changes could occur in the world, such as ground-breaking technology discoveries, radical societal changes, more intensive activism and social justice movements. As societal structures are challenged, it is likely that the world appears to be more divided before we become more united.

The energy becomes more wobbly in April as the Eclipse and Mercury retrograde season coincide. On March 25, the Lunar Eclipse in Libra marks the beginning of Eclipse season, where things become less predictable. Think back to the New Moon on October 15 2023: what are some themes that emerged money and relationships? These issues may resurface during the Eclipse. The Eclipse season closes with the Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8, where the energy re-focuses on ourselves. Just two days later, Mars and Saturn conjoining may cause us to feel particularly heavy, as though we are stuck with certain responsibilities. On April 20, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction suggests a turn of events, perhaps in the areas of wealth and abundance. Jupiter is the planet of unlimited blessings, while for better or for worse, Uranus’ appearance always indicates an element of surprise. Throughout April, we will also be feeling the effects of Mercury retrograde in fiery Aries. It would be helpful to plan less for this month and leave more room for flexibility instead.

After an intense roller coaster ride, May lifts us up again with a few Jupiter blessings. On May 18, Jupiter meets the Sun in a “cazimi” that is known to be the luckiest day of the year. On this day, we can expect our relationships, finances and careers to be positively impacted. When Jupiter meets Venus on May 23, we become extra lovey-dovey and harmonious. Having this knowledge in mind, it is time to plan your most important events and meet-ups for this luck-filled week.

During summer, the energy becomes quiet. Throughout August, we are met with the second round of Mercury retrograde in the sign of Virgo and Leo. On August 19, Jupiter in Gemini squares Saturn in Pisces suggests some inner tension, where we feel both limited and unsure about the future ahead. We then step into the second Eclipse season in September and October. With the South Node (representing our Karma) activated, it is likely that something from the past creeps back into our lives. We could also experience more intensity closer to October, when the universe asks us to bravely face our subconscious beliefs and patterns. Apart from Mercury going retrograde in December, Mars will also move backward from December 7 until February 2025. Paired with another rough interaction between Jupiter and Saturn on December 24, we can expect some frustrations through the holidays, where the universe wants us to sit still and reflect, instead of moving forward.

The year by star signs

Aries
2024 is all about you moving deeper into your life’s mission, your purpose. Community will be a strong focus as Pluto moves into your eleventh house of friends and future goals, so don’t shy away from dreaming big and letting your tribe support you. With the North Node of destiny in your home sign all year long, it’s time to tap into your willpower and blaze your own trail. Extra blessings may come in mid-August as Jupiter conjoins your ruling planet Mars.

Taurus
This is a year filled with sweet blessings and wild adventures for you. Peers are here to support your work when Pluto moves into your tenth house of career. You’ll be your most charming self in May as Jupiter and your ruling planet (Venus) all meet in your home sign. When the planet of blessings (Jupiter) moves into your house of money and values at the end of May, your finances may well receive a boost.

Gemini
Lots of forward momentum for you this year when Pluto moves into Aquarius, a fellow air sign just like you. As Jupiter enters your first house of self-expression in late May, the planet of luck blesses you with new opportunities and supportive people for one whole year. Make use of this transit by really putting yourself out there. A burst of energy enlivens you in mid-August as Mars and Jupiter join forces in your home sign.

Cancer
The intensity has calmed down for you this year, as you focus more on your inward journey. The pressure comes off your personal relationships when the planet of transformations (Pluto) finally exits your seventh house of partnership by the end of the year. With the South Node of Karma activating your fourth house the whole year, more outdated patterns around your emotional world and home are purging. Think of this year as a quiet time of integration, as you gather all the lessons you’ve learnt around how to stand up for yourself and make your own name.

Leo
A year of continuous growth and truth seeking is ahead of you. Expect lots of movements around your public life and career in early May when the benefic planets (Venus and Jupiter) bless your tenth house of career; and when Jupiter moves into your eleventh house of friends the same month, your community will become a new focus of yours. The way you approach love and relationships will likely go through a transformation over the next two decades, with Pluto moving into your seventh house of partnership.

Virgo
By the end of the year, work and career will become a great focus of yours, as transformative Pluto moves into your sixth house of service and luck-filled Jupiter journeys into your tenth house of career. May could inspire your inner adventurer as the benefic planets (Venus and Jupiter) expand your ninth house of travels and explorations. Money, value and resources continue to be a big lesson as the nodes of fate activate these areas of your life all year long.

Libra
“Out with the old and in with the new” is a major theme of your 2024, especially when it comes to outdated patterns and relationships. With the Eclipses in your home sign, as well as the nodes of fate passing through your first house of self-identity and seventh house of partnership, you’re learning how to put yourself first and relate to others in a healthier way. When Pluto moves into Aquarius, it activates your fifth house of passionate creativity, where you’ll feel more forward momentum.

Scorpio
A surprising partnership may come in and sweeten your life in April, whether that’s romantic or platonic. Your relationships continue to receive support from the universe when the benefic planets (Venus and Jupiter) bless your seventh house of partnership, making it a good month to connect and deepen your relationships with others. As your ruling planet Pluto transits into your fourth house of home (where she will stay for the next two decades), your emotional world and home life may well be transformed.

Sagittarius
In April, a breakthrough may occur at work when Jupiter and Uranus meet in your sixth house of service. Your work or crafts continue to be a focus well into May, when the benefic planets (Venus and Jupiter) travel into the same house. The key is to honour your creative side and let your passion guide, as the north node of destiny stations in your fifth house of self-expression the whole year. How can you learn to work with and listen to others without compromising your own truth?

Capricorn
Finally the weight is off your shoulders as Pluto, the planet of intense transformations, leaves your first house of self-identity, where it’s been stationed since 2008. Both Eclipse seasons around March and October touch on your tenth house of career, so don’t be surprised if unexpected changes happen around your work. Sudden shifts may also occur around your love life or passion projects in April, when Uranus and Jupiter come to shake things up in your fifth house of romance and creativity.

Aquarius
In late January, you may receive a glimpse of the massive transformation that’s coming, when the Sun and alchemical Pluto enter your home sign just moments apart. For the next two decades, you’ll see changes deep within yourself and the society at large, when Pluto moves into your first house of self-identity. With strict Saturn governing your second house of money and value all year long, make sure to watch your finances well. May would be a good time for you to retreat and take care of your mind and body.

Pisces
You might’ve been feeling slight restrictions in your self-expression as Saturn continues to travel through your first house of self-identity, but especially so around April 10, when Saturn conjoins hot tempered Mars. Lean into your community or siblings for support, or channel any frustration into writing or speaking. Lessons around relationships and sharing of resources may surface around September’s Lunar Eclipse in your home sign, a potent time to learn to balance your dreamer’s nature with grounded practicality.
