With Earth energy at the forefront next week, Tatler’s astrologer Casey Chan explains what it means for each star sign
Between strategic Capricorn and embodied Taurus, we are supported with much Earth energy next week. Although both are deep in their retrograde seasons, December 18 sets the cosmic stage for a favourable interaction between Mercury in Capricorn and Jupiter in Taurus. Both being grounded Earth signs, we are encouraged to take care of our “Earthly” business, especially our finances. From taxes to financial agreements, this is a good day for us to pause and review. As the year end approaches, it is time to focus our energy to tie up any loose ends.
On the day of Winter Solstice (December 22), Capricorn season officially begins when the Sun enters the sign of the hardworking sea goat. As the festival marks the shortest day and longest night of the year, it symbolises our rebirth and renewal, as well as the Earth’s regeneration. Our retrograde “veil” is also temporarily lifted on this day, when the Sun and Mercury meet. Also known as a “Cazimi”, this day provides us with moments of mental clarity, allowing us to see our Mercury retrograde lessons a little more clearly. If there have been any inspirations around taking grounded actions, this would be a good time to integrate your reflections and wisdom.
