Hong Kong's dining scene was hit with a heavy blow last week when the government announced the complete ban of all seafood imports from 10 coastal prefectures in Japan—including Tokyo—in response to the release of nuclear wastewater from the decommissioned Fukushima nuclear reactor. While sushi aficionados are already missing their fix of fresh fish, the problem is much more pressing for sushi restaurants that rely almost entirely on Japanese seafood imports; we speak to some business owners in the city to see how they plan to weather this storm, and how you can help as a customer.
