Ava is the founder and chairman of the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry, a clinical professor and chief of the breast surgery division for three hospitals. She is the first female council member of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong and was assistant dean at HKU from 2013 to 2018. Ava is married to Walton Li.
