Shuttling between Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York and Los Angeles, Bonnie Chan Woo is the definition of a global businesswoman. The chairwoman and CEO of Icicle Group, a publicly listed marketing and production firm on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, manages a team of 50 working on projects across dining, retail, luxury, entertainment, technology and insurance. In 2017, Chan Woo co-founded Studio SV with Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco to produce original content across TV, digital and films with a mission to foster cross-cultural dialogues. In 2019, she launched e-commerce platform WomanBoss, which shines a light on brands founded by women spanning fashion, lifestyle and wellness. Beyond work, she contributes to the creative community through various non-profit organisations. She is the vice-chairwoman of the Hong Kong Design Centre, a director of art centre Para Site, and sits on the board of Ocean Park.

In June, Chan Woo relocated to Shanghai to take on the role of CEO of Complex China, a leading entertainment company with a foothold in major pop culture categories, including streetwear and style, music, sneakers and sports across Greater China. Her role spans concert production, experiences, editorial and e-commerce, and her goals over the next six months are ambitious: “I released a few new shows in Chinese, including a live-stream at [Complex Network’s immersive two-day convention in California] ComplexCon in partnership with TMall.” In the first quarter of 2022, Complex will host a series of offline events across China featuring fashion and collectibles. “I hope to apply blockchain technology in those projects for better efficiency, as well as to offer the most cutting edge digital experiences for the fans of youth culture,” Chan Woo says.
