Fitness is the name of the game for Gary Wan of Hybrid Group, who’s introduced some of Hong Kong’s best-known organised outdoor activity experiences to the city’s notoriously desk-bound population. Along with Gianni Melwani, Gary co-organised Iris: Your Escape, a yoga and wellness festival featuring more than 80 fitness and wellness classes ranging from meditation and yoga to kickboxing and bootcamp sessions. He also launched Hong Kong’s Spartan Race, the world’s number-one obstacle run, in which participants wade through mud, crawl under barbed wire and toy with fire. Competitors only complete the extreme route once, but fitness fanatic Gary performs each course at least 30 times while designing the challenge. That’s what we call dedication.
