Former interior designer Marissa Fung-Shaw serves on boards and advisory committees for arts and culture and youth empowerment organisations. Among them, she plays an important role at the M+ museum within the West Kowloon Cultural District, and is on the board of the Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection, a charity that aims to nurture young people through bilingual educational theatre productions. She is also a trustee of the Asian Cultural Council, and works as a consultant for the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society.

Married to Business Aviation Asia founder Jay Shaw, Marissa is the daughter of Kenneth Fung, who was involved in founding the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the HKAPA, and Nelly Fung, co-founder of the Chinese International School and founder of the ISF Academy; her grandfather Fung Ping-shan was the founder of the Bank of East Asia. She is a supporter with her husband of charities including Hong Kong Cancer Fund and Hong Kong Dog Rescue.
