The chairman of Henderson Land Group Peter Lee has taken over the reins of the business empire Henderson Land since 2019. He is also the chairman of The Hong Kong and China Gas Company and Towngas Smart Energy Company, as well as the vice-chairman of Henderson Investment.

Peter joined the company in 1985. Early on in his tenure, he undertook the critical role of spearheading the company’s push into mainland China, and that market remains his focus. Lee is highly committed to philanthropy, focusing on areas including healthcare and poverty alleviation: his Centum Charitas Foundation, established in 2008, aims to bring together a group of successful entrepreneurs in Hong Kong to support philanthropic causes, and promote collaboration between the business and social welfare sectors, while his Care of Life Foundation has funded surgery for over 60,000 impoverished children with congenital heart disease.

Lee is also a member of the standing committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He is a Justice of the Peace and received a Gold Bauhinia Star in 2015. Peter Lee is the father of triplet boys.

In 2017 Henderson Land paid more than HK$23 billion for the site of a former car park on Murray Road, in Central, Hong Kong, which has been named The Henderson. Set to become “an icon amongst icons”, the building was designed by world-renowned architectural firm Zaha Hadid Architects, and will be developed into a 465,000 sq ft super Grade A office tower.
