The co-founder, managing partner and chief investment officer of Phoenix Property Investors, a private equity real estate investment company, Samuel Chu has more than 30 years of real estate investment and corporate advisory experience in Asia, Europe, and the US. Prior to founding Phoenix, Chu worked in major international banks and financial institutions with postings in Hong Kong, New York, Frankfurt and Tokyo. He also had substantial investment and advisory experience, focusing on real estate, and public and private equities for a range of clients including listed companies.

Chu founded Phoenix in 2002 with his business partner Benjamin Lee. Adopting a value-driven approach, the company works with institutional clients such as sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, foundations, university endowments, insurance companies and family offices. Phoenix has managed over US$12.7 billion of gross real estate assets, comprised of investments in more than 130 properties across 18 Asia Pacific gateway cities, including award-wining properties such as Hong Kong’s Gramercy, The Morgan and Tower 535, plus others in locations including Japan, Australia, South Korea, mainland China, Singapore and Taiwan.

Samuel Chu is married to Pauline Lo-Chu, granddaughter of Great Eagle founder Lo Ying-shek; they have two sons, Janson and Evan. Chu is a graduate of the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
