This year, TikTok CEO Chew Shou Zi was thrust under the spotlight as the social media platform faced scrutiny over privacy and disinformation, leading countries to consider its ban. The tech executive met with European Union officials in January 2023 and also appeared before the US Congress in March to address the concerns.
