For the second year in a row, pop superstars BTS have topped the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list following a successful and record-breaking year
In case anyone doubted it, pop juggernauts BTS have topped the list of Forbes Korea Power Celebrity ranking, making them the most powerful Korean celebrity in 2021. BTS has also placed first in 2020, second in 2019 and first again in 2018.
The annual Forbes Korea Power Celebrity 40 list inaugurates 40 of the most powerful celebrities in South Korea in various fields including sports, music, arts, film and television. The ranking is determined by their professional achievements, special media popularity, media exposure, net worth and TV appearances in that particular year. This is why it’s no surprise that BTS has made it to the top.
The pop superstars have achieved great success in dominating the global music charts this year in addition to many more historic and record-breaking feats. Their smash hit, Butter has spent number one on the Billboard Hot100 chart for seven weeks straight—the first and only by any South Korean act—before it was dethroned by their own song, Permission to Dance which charted for another eight weeks. Their song with Coldplay, My Universe also placed first on the charts.

In addition to ranking in number one, BTS has also collected their fair share of awards and nominations. The septet made history as the first Korean and Asian act to win Artist of the Year at the American Music Award, swept awards at the Billboard Music Awards and earned their second Grammy nomination. BTS has also made a powerful speech at the United Nations General Assembly which was watched by a whopping six million people and performed Permission to Dance right at the very halls of the United Nations headquarters in New York.
To top it all off, BTS has also sold out a four-day concert at the So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles, entered the Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Fame, become Louis Vuitton ambassadors and partnered with McDonald’s for the BTS meal. It’s no surprise that 2021 is definitely BTS’ year.
Despite the pandemic, the group has continued to communicate with their fans, perform in offline concerts and release singles. 2022 will be another big year for BTS—and that’s not a prediction but a fact.
