Originally established as part of the International Save The Children Alliance in the 1950s, the Changing Young Lives Foundation was incorporated as an independent registered Hong Kong charity in 1996.

The organisation is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children and marginalised youth in Hong Kong and Mainland China through education and developmental programmes in the spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The CYLF offers centre-based and outreach programmes in education, talent development, experiential learning and self-empowerment that are completely free of charge, allowing young people to maximise their opportunities at school and work, and inspiring them to live their lives to the fullest.

The CYLF also works with remote schools in Qinghai, Guangxi and Gansu provinces, improving their infrastructure, health and hygiene and offering teacher training and student scholarships. The charity’s Madam TY Wong (Alee Vee) Centre serves underprivileged children and families in Shek Kip Mei, offering workshops to parents and educational support for children.

The CYLF has a range of programme sponsors, including Swire and Citi Foundation. Olympic swimmer Yvette Kong is one of the charity’s ambassadors and Eleanor Wong acts as honorary chairman of the CYLF’s board of advisors.
