After the Girl Guides was established in the UK in 1910, the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association followed in 1916 with the mission of aiding the personal development of girls and young women, enabling them to grow to their fullest potential as citizens and leaders.

Membership is open to girls and women aged from 6 to 23, while women over 21 can apply to lead units. Girls aged 4 to 6 can join the association’s service projects as Happy Bees, while women over 55 can apply to join the Golden Guide programme.

Girl Guides develop their character and skills by participating in training and activities, and earning badges dedicated to subjects such as community health, environmental protection and first aid. Girl Guides also respond to calls for volunteers and participate in competitions in partnership with various other organisations across Hong Kong.

The association, which is the largest female youth organisation in Hong Kong, is supported by Pansy Ho and Christine Wong, among many others.

How To Help?

Volunteer to be a role model for girls and young women by teaching them teamwork, leadership and life skills.
